The Best Frontend and React Skills for Claude Code

2026-10-17

Frontend is where agent skills are most likely to be redundant. Most of them are the same thirty lines of React advice with a different name on top. These six are the ones that do something specific.

We have evaluated 628 skills across nine categories. The developer-tools category is the largest at 133, and frontend is the most crowded corner of it — component patterns, framework conventions, CSS technique, and design judgment all get their own packages.

These are the six that survived scoring at 8.5 or above, and the reason each one earned its place.

The skills worth installing

good-css — 9.2 · Productivity

Modern CSS that removes layout scaffolding rather than adding it: container queries instead of breakpoint ladders, :has() instead of wrapper divs, logical properties instead of left/right pairs. The highest-scoring frontend skill in the directory, and the one with the clearest point of view — it is opinionated about deleting code.

react-native-expert — 9.1 · Developer Tools

Cross-platform mobile with React Native. Distinct from the web-React skills because the failure modes are different: navigation stacks, native module linking, and platform-specific rendering. If you are shipping to iOS and Android, the web-React skills will not help you here.

nextjs-developer — 9.0 · Developer Tools

Next.js 14+ with the App Router: server components, streaming, route handlers, and the caching model that trips people up. The App Router is genuinely different enough from Pages Router that a generic React skill is not a substitute.

react-expert — 9.0 · Productivity

React 18+ in .jsx/.tsx: hooks, state ownership, rendering behavior. The generalist of the group. If you only install one web-React skill, start here and add good-css for layout.

react-view-transitions — 8.9 · Developer Tools

The View Transitions API for native-feeling page and component transitions. Narrow, but it is the only skill in the directory that addresses this specific primitive — and animation guidance is where most UI skills hand-wave.

vue-expert — 8.9 · Developer Tools

Vue 3 Composition API, Nuxt 3 SSR/SSG, and Vite configuration. The counterpart to the React pair, scoring within 0.1 of them. Pick your framework first; do not install both.

Where they overlap

react-expert, nextjs-developer, and react-native-expert share a vocabulary but not a target. Installing all three is reasonable if you work across web and mobile, but expect the agent to need clearer routing signals — their descriptions overlap on "React" and the trigger boundaries are not always sharp.

good-css is different in kind: it is not framework-specific and composes with any of them. It is also the one skill here that changes what your markup looks like rather than what your agent knows.

How to choose

If you want the broader picture, the developer tools category covers debugging, architecture, and testing as well — and every score above ships with its written rationale on the skill page.
