The Best Data Visualization and Chart Skills for Claude Code
"Make a chart" is a different request from "make an infographic", and both are different from "animate this data". The skills here divide along output format rather than data type.
Visualization skills in our directory split into four output formats — static infographic, interactive chart, motion graphic, and 3D scene. The scores track how well each handles its format.
The skills worth installing
baoyu-infographic — 9.3 · Design & Creative
Infographics with 21 layout types and 22 visual styles. The highest-scoring visualization skill, and the most opinionated about structure — it treats layout as a first-class decision rather than something that falls out of the content.
motion-graphics — 9.0 · Video & Motion
Short, design-led motion graphics where motion carries the message. Different from a chart with an entrance animation: the motion is the argument.
3dviz-pro-max — 8.7 · Video & Motion
3D scenes, explainers, and interactive models. Worth it for spatial or product explanations; overkill for anything a flat chart can say.
d3-viz — 8.2 · Data & Analytics
Interactive charts with d3.js. Lower score and the most technically demanding — full control over encoding and interaction means full responsibility for it. Choose it when the reader needs to explore rather than glance.
trading-visualization — 7.9 · Finance & Trading
Candlesticks, equity curves, drawdowns, and trading-specific chart types. The lowest score in the group and the most domain-bound — included because generic charting skills get candlesticks wrong.
Static, interactive, or animated
The decision is about the reader's job:
- Understand one point → infographic (
baoyu-infographic) - Explore the data → interactive (
d3-viz) - Feel the change → motion (
motion-graphics) - Understand a space → 3D (
3dviz-pro-max)
Most business requests are the first. Most technical ones are the second. The other two are chosen less often and should be — they carry more attention per unit of data.
A note on scores
d3-viz at 8.2 is not worse than baoyu-infographic at 9.3. They are graded on different things: infographics are judged on layout and consistency, d3 on correctness and control. A d3 skill that produces a working interactive chart is doing a harder job than one that produces a well-composed static image.
The written rationale on each skill page is more useful than the number when comparing across formats.
