The Best Diagram and Visualization Skills for Claude Code

2026-10-17

Diagrams are a format decision before they are a design decision. SVG, Mermaid, and d3 produce different things, and picking the wrong one wastes more time than any styling choice.

The visualization cluster is small but covers the main output formats. The scores track how well each skill handles its format rather than how good the output looks.

The skills worth installing

baoyu-diagram — 9.4 · Design & Creative

Professional dark-themed SVG diagrams of any type: architecture, flow, sequence, data flow. The highest-scoring skill in this group. SVG output is the most flexible destination — it scales, it can be embedded anywhere, and it can be edited afterward.

3dviz-pro-max — 8.7 · Video & Motion

Expressive 3D scenes, explainers, and interactive models. A different medium rather than a different style — useful for spatial explanations that a flat diagram cannot carry, and overkill for most architecture docs.

beautiful-mermaid — 8.6 · Productivity

Renders Mermaid diagrams as SVG or PNG. Mermaid's advantage is that it is text — diagrams live in your repo, diff in pull requests, and update with the code. That property alone makes it the right choice for technical documentation.

d3-viz — 8.2 · Data & Analytics

Interactive data visualizations with d3.js. Not a diagram tool — a charting tool with full control over interaction and encoding. Choose it when the data is the point, not the structure.

alphaear-logic-visualizer — 6.7 · Finance & Trading

Finance logic diagrams in Draw.io XML. Scores lowest and is the most niche — included because Draw.io output is editable in a tool many teams already use.

Format first, style second

The decision tree is short:

Most architecture documentation should use Mermaid. Most marketing graphics should use SVG. The split is about maintenance, not quality.
